INRIA - INRIA reaffirms its support for the free software movement: "The French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA) is using the Open World Forum 2009 as an opportunity to reassert its support to the free software movement. INRIA is convinced that there is an essential role for free software in developing a digital society; using its extensive experience in this area to consolidate its strategy, with focusing especially on transfer. INRIA also announces the opening of the first IT Innovation and Research Centre for Free Software (Centre d’Innovation et de Recherche en Informatique sur le Logiciel Libre - CIRILL). INRIA, together with its partners in public research and prominent members of the free software community, believes that CIRILL will act as a single point of contact for the scientific, technological and manufacturing skills required to meet the challenges generated by the rapid growth of free software."
